History of Rancho California Chapel
RANCHO CALIFORNIA CHAPEL HISTORY
Rancho California Chapel began as God guided the retirement plans and dreams of one couple, Dick and Kathy Dickinson. The
Dickinsons came to Rancho California RV Resort in March 1999 to purchase a lot. They planned to retire in May, and looked forward
to traveling. However, as they were driving out through the gate, they noticed an old wooden cross on the hillside overlooking the
resort and both commented to each other that God might have a ministry work for them at the Ranch.
In February 2000, Dick and Kathy held the first Sunday service of Rancho California Chapel with one other couple, using a milk crate
as a podium and a boom box for music. Several couples soon joined them, bringing varying talents that could help support and grow
this ministry.
Founding Pastor Dick Dickinson was taken home to be with the Lord in 2009, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Kathy followed
him in 2018. Today a lighted cross stands on the hillside overlooking the resort in memory of the Dickinsons and in thanks to God for
His loving hand in forming and growing this Chapel.
From its very beginnings, Rancho Chapel has taken offerings to support missions efforts. Today the Chapel regularly supports
missionaries all over the world, as well as local missions. Several of the missionaries rotate as Chapel speakers each Sunday,
faithfully teaching God’s word and continuing the ministry begun by the Dickinsons.
